Meet Enya, Anna, Brenna, Alec, Drew, and Josh. Together they call themselves “Running With Scissors”, an Omaha Blues Society “Blues Ed” band.
Running With Scissors is a first-year “intern” group, but that doesn’t mean they’re not performing. They have several shows booked, and are actively looking for more. If you want more information on booking Running With Scissors for your event, use the Contact link in the sidebar.
Running With Scissors is part of the Omaha Blues Society’s Blues Ed program. Blues Ed is a non-profit program created to provide an opportunity for young musicians to play with other students in a non-scholastic setting; Learning songs from an established list of traditional and contemporary blues music; learning the art of improvisation, the techniques of “jamming”, the methodology of rehearsal, and the historical origins of their own popular music.
Musicians have the opportunity to work with professional musicians who help them hone their skills. They rehearse regularly, and eventually become a part of the Omaha music community. It’s a unique opportunity, and helps to keep alive Blues as a performing art form.
A heartfelt thanks to The Omaha Blues Society, the BluesEd administrators and volunteers, and to the professional musicians working with the program for giving the musicians instruction and guidance.
